APPLICATION “SELF-HYPNOSIS”
TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ SELF-CONTROL
TOWARD DRUGS

SUMMARY
The abuse of drugs of the youngster is very apprehensive.  Generally, drugs a use by doctor in medication. In fact, the drugs have been abused by the youngsters nowadays. Unfortunately, in has some dangerous impacts for youngsters, such as mind disorder, health, negative behavior, and death. Until this day, students who are suspected are thousands. Basically, the causative factors are divided into two, namely internal factors and externals factors. The internal factor is the factor that comes from the student themselves, it means during teen-age period, the students have emotional changes, such as easily to get angry and influence. Moreover, they get too emotional. So that, the high self-control of students is needed to neutralize those symptoms. By doing that, the tendency of drug abuse by the student can be minimalized.
Students’ self-control towards drug abuse can be improved through subconscious mind. Its purpose is basically to form, guide, and control the students’ behavior in avoiding drug abuse. The main thing of those purposes basically comes from the students’ mind, namely conscious mind and subconscious mind. Actually, the subconscious mind has great contribution toward the ability to control human behavior, which is 88%. One of the method to enter subconscious mind by using Self-hypnosis, so they can reform their subconscious mind. After this process is over, students’ self-control are increased toward drug abuse indirectly.
As stated above, the students’ self-control can improved through subconscious mind interaction. To be able in communicating with subconscious mind, self-hypnosis is used as its technique. Students who implement self-hypnosis are able to understand communication and to stay focus in thinking. Because of that, before doing the self-hypnosis practice, counsellor teacher act as a guide by giving clear understanding to students about the definition, purpose, function, significance of self-hypnosis. After the students are able to understand it, the practice can be continued.
1.      Preparation
The students are given the material about the danger of drug abuse throught slide presentation. Besides that, students also given a video about it.
2.      Implementation
After all the material are delivered, then the students are prepared to do the steps of self-hypnosis as the following below:
a.       Counsellor teacher leads the students to close their eyes together.
b.      Students are directed to control their breath
(Note: Students who are not serious in doing this, it will be seen from their mimic and eye contact. If this happens, approaching the students to take their attention is the answer. By doing this, the other students’ concentration are not distracted.)
c.       After that, the students are directed to relax their body.
d.      Then, they are directed to make their position comfortable and relax. This process is done for 5 minutes.
e.       After 5 minutes or more, the counsellor teacher gives instruction in the form of positives sayings that are repeated by the students in the comfortable and relax condition.
3.      Closing
After the implementation process has finished, the counsellor teacher asks the students move their hands firstly, then their body, and finally open their eyes.


Basically, this self-hypnosis condition is merely as same as condition in meditation and praying, but, the process is little bit different. The students are expected to master those steps, so they are able to do it by themselves. By implementing the self-hypnosis everyday on the students, it will impact the improvement of their self-control. The improvement of students’ self-control by implementing self-hypnosis can minimalize the drug abuse. So, Indonesian youngsters can be the generation without drug. Based on the important of drug abuse prevention in students, the writer suggests the school authority through counsellor teacher to implement this self-hypnosis technique in order to improve students’ self-control toward drug abuse.
